Former Mines Minister Obert Mpofu reveals source of his vast wealth

Former Mines Minister Obert Mpofu reveals source of his vast wealth.ZANU-PF secretary for administration and ex Mines Minister Obert Mpofu has dismissed as “insults” allegations that he looted State resources during the time he was a Cabinet minister,

adding that he has always invited investigators into his wealth.Mpofu says he feels insulted by “people who have never run a tuckshop” who say he used his top positions in Zanu-PF and Government to loot State resources.Mpofu, a former Minister of Mines among other portfolios in the past two decades, told the Daily News on Sunday during an interview that his wealth was clean and hard-won.

“I am clean, I have invited investigations. I have never and will never take anything from anybody. What I have, I worked for and it is an insult, especially to be told by a nonentity, someone who has never managed a tuck-shop that I am corrupt. What do I need to corrupt anybody? If anything, I would be corrupting people,” Mpofu said.“I think that is the best time that the country ever had, between 2009 and 2013. But people who want to see us fail think of the negative, look at the economic growth, it shot to two-figure digits, I am proud.“I don’t regret it and I am waiting to see someone surpass what I achieved.

Before 2009, there was nothing in mining and after 2013 it just went down. The graph is going down, but when I was minister, the graph was going up and I don’t see us achieving that in the near future. When you achieve something in Zimbabwe, you become a target, an enemy of the reactionaries,” Mpofu said. He invited those who accuse him of corruption to take their evidence to the police.“I am not amused by the allegations, but I don’t regret the decisions that I have taken in my life because I made those decisions consciously.

If there is anybody who thinks that I have done something that is not professional, they should go to the police. “But let us not trivialise issues by listening to people who have never employed anyone in their lives.

We don’t condone corruption because it denies people of their rights and repels investment, But if you look at the investments that are in this country, they were brought by me, the mining companies.“When I was in industries, look at the companies, the majority were brought by me and I am challenging anyone to dispute that,” Mpofu said.Mpofu is believed to be heavily invested in the property and tourism as well as agricultural sectors in Bulawayo and Matabeleland North provinces.

Chamisa's lawyer spoke out about Mnangagwa's fraud evidence during the election

OPPOSITION MDC leader Nelson Chamisa will launch a renewed bid to oust President Emmerson Mnangagwa by seeking to have the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) review its own judgment based on “new evidence.”.Chamisa’s lawyer Thabani Mpofu said after studying academic works on the elections published by self-exiled former minister Jonathan Moyo, they were now making efforts to have the judgment on the 2018 presidential elections set aside. The country’s top court ruled that Chamisa had failed to prove allegations of fraud during the presidential election, a vote which left the nation polarised and violence on the streets of the capital Harare.Mpofu said the basis of approaching the ConCourt was because they now believe that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) presented to the courts false information and, therefore, their call for the judgment to be set aside.“The general rule is that once a final judgment or order has been given, the judge who gave it or any other judge of parallel juri...
